Questions about the Lakhovsky Coil

Q.  How often do I have to wear the coil?
A.  Lakhovsky believed the coil helped protect the person or animal by filtering the background radiation. Through experimentation it has been proven that this radiation is most prevalent at night and therefore it is best that the coil be worn at night but that the more it is worn the more benefit have been received. Many claim that they wear it all the time.

Q.  How long do I have to wear the coil?
A.
I have worn mine for about 20 years but one woman who started wearing it for a slipped disk in her back stopped wearing it, except when she injured her back, after 6 months because she felt it made her feel tired.  As a general rule I have found that the age of the person determines how often and how long they will have to wear the coil. If you are:

Teens to 20's - Nights only for first few months then whenever problem arises.

30's & 40's - All the time for first few months then whenever problem arises.

50's & 60's - All the time but can go for hours or a day or two without coil.

70's & 80's -  All the time but can go for a few hours without coil

The above is just a rough idea.  If the pain is severe I would suggest everyone wear it all the time in the beginning (you can go without during showers or any other time it wouldn't be feasible to wear) and then go according to your age.  Everybody is different and each person should learn what is best for them.

Q.  How often do I have to clean the coil?
A.  You only have to do this without the insulation.  When it gets dirty. My father had a stiff neck and the coil would loosen it up except when it started getting dirty he would start stiffening up again (he was 73 so pretty much had to wear it all the time). When I lived in New Hampshire I only had to clean it once a week but in California and South Dakota I generally clean it every day or every other day

Q.  How often do I have to make a new one?
A.  After a while the copper seems to loose it’s integrity and should be replaced. This could happen after a few months to a year.

Q.  Can I wear it outside my clothes.
A.  My father felt that it worked best against his skin but I have worn it both ways.

Q.  Can I wear more than one coil?
A.  Lakhovsky had a coil around the horse’s neck and each leg.   I wear two at night with the insulation on.

Q.  Why do you have the rubber piece on the end?
A.  Only needed if the insulation is not on the copper.  The rubber acts as an insulator to prevent the two ends of the coil from touching. By doing so the coil works as a resonant circuit. The precise wavelength doesn’t seem to matter.

Q.  What size copper wire do I use?

A.  The #10 wire I use is a standard in the United States (AWG).  In other countries the (SWG) standard is used and the size that most closely matches ours is #12.  So outside the United States you should look for the size solid copper wire of #12.
